Falcons HC Chris Paulson Accepts Position at Curtis HS

Falcons Head Coach Chris Paulson met with the team last Friday and informed them that he has accepted the head coaching position at Curtis High School.  We would like to wish Coach Paulson and his family the very best, and thank him for his hard work and dedication to our student athletes.

Curtis High School is excited to announce the selection of Chris Paulson as the next Head Football Coach. Chris takes over for Clay Angle (Head Coach 2007-2014, 56-20) who resigned in December. Coach Paulson’s first head football coach position was at Mt. Rainier High School (Des Moines) in 2008 and 2009. In his first season, Chris led Mt. Rainier to the playoffs and in second season was able to double the number of student-athletes participating in the football program. Chris is leaving Kentlake High School after a successful 5-year stint as their Head Football Coach. During his tenure at Kentlake, Chris compiled a record of 31-20 including an SPSL League Championship in 2011 and three playoff appearances. Chris earned SPSL 4A Coach of the Year honors in 2011 and was invited to coach in the All-State game in 2012. Coach Paulson has published a book and two DVD’s detailing the Pistol Spread Triple Option Offense.

“Chris brings experience, knowledge, and passion for teaching football, but most important a coaching philosophy that values every student-athlete in his program. He has proven to be a magnetic coach that draws in student-athletes.”

Chris is a graduate of Auburn-Riverside High School in where he participated in football, basketball, and baseball. He continued his football career by walking on and playing linebacker at Washington State University. Coach Paulson is part of a football family. His youngest brother, David, is currently a member of the San Diego Chargers in the National Football League. Brother-in-law, Aaron Chantler, is the head football coach at Gig Harbor High School and his father-in-law is Gordon Elliot, head football coach at Auburn High School.
